A certain justice has prevailed in this case: the "employee" will receive her vested pension in full -- even through the disdainful and dishonest efforts of her "employer" to prevent her from doing so.

"Get up, stand up. Don't give up the fight."

It DIDN'T have to be that way, and I am so happy to say it ISN'T now. Clap, clap, clap.

Where were you last week, David, when the word "heroes" was misspelled in two places on this thing? Nails on a chalkboard, nails on a chalkboard.

I agree with you obviously. The world will run more smoothly for all of us when people quit practicing what they learned in the Dick Cheney School of Business Management.

There are business practices, and then there are ethics, which demand that people NOT be treated as things or mere assets.

The best business practice is the most ethical business practice.

Treating human beings on the same level as office furniture that can be written off is not only wrong, but plain foul.

Jessica, I am sure whatever compelling idea it is you decide to do will be shortly followed by its own wonderfully written story for us all to read.

Thanks, that's very kind of you.

Exactly, Tina, and thank you for not mentioning names because we are one, not individuals, when it comes to our causal reasons for participation.

For those who have posted using names and citing direct instances of similar experiences, I apologize, but I don't want to encourage hatred. Instead, I would like to motivate future accountability and recognition that we do not have to settle for anything out of fear. Thanks.

It amazes me that a person in a leadership position such as the one you are describing, someone that is SUPPOSE to stand up and fight for injustices such as this is the ring leader. SHAMEFUL. When a group is suppose to stand up for the little guy. To be the voice of fairness in an unfair environment whether it be in livelyhood or life (one in the same) and to have that voice say one thing while taking my hard earned money to be my strong armed guardian, turn around and do the exact same thing he is suppose to be fighting against. If he will throw one under the bus to serve his own needs or good, he will throw the rest of us just as easy. Why aren't we as union brothers making this man accountable? Maybe a flood of letters, a few articles in the news paper or two, or god love us a demonstration! I'm there, I'll hold a sign. Keep up the work Miss Thing. With every action there is a reaction.

What a great read! You know, I'm convinced now more than ever that I know exactly what my strengths are and where they come from. My parents taught me not just by their words but by their actions and although I don't consider myself anywhere near perfect or a saint, I do know that my strengths shine in standing up against tyranny. It's a huge undertaking because we all know that it’s all around us and in everything and I too have grown weary of those commonly spoken words, “that’s just the way it is”. You’re right, so very right, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE! Some of us have the power to make changes and with faith and persistence we eventually will. It may be on a small scale or in a personal matter but little strides sooner or later create big waves. Kristan, to know that YOU have the power, your daughter does, and her daughters will also is a huge gift not only to yourselves but to everyone who is fortunate enough to come in contact with you....keep up the great work, your words are inspiring and worth sharing with all the rest of us so called do-gooders out there.
